印第安纳大学音乐学院-音乐教育专业

音乐教育学士学位的学生可以从四个不同的重点领域进行选择: 合唱、综合、乐队或管弦乐队。学生可根据乐器或声乐,选择由音乐学院提供的各种表演机会,其中包括30多个交响乐团、乐队、合唱团及专业室内演奏。本科生可以通过与著名大学教授和公立学校音乐专家的互动,以及参与国家或国际音乐教育协会,从而成为音乐教师和专业人员。多年来,该项目的毕业生一直享有优秀的就业率(接近100%)。

研究生音乐教育课程根据学生未来发展的走向强调研究与实践的结合。并且音乐学院能够为研究生学历的学生提供研究生助学金,支付大部分学费。研究生音乐教育项目的毕业生对音乐教育学作出了重大贡献,是该领域最具生产力的学者之一。

Brenda Brenner

1984年获得威奇塔州立大学音乐教育学士学位以及音乐学学士学位,随后在伊斯曼音乐学院获得硕士和博士学位。

现为音乐学院音乐教育系主任、副教授。同时她还担任印第安纳大学弦乐学院的联席主任,这是她自1993年以来一直担任的职位。她的弦乐学院学生曾在全美各大音乐厅演出,并在欧洲、亚洲和南美巡回演出。

作为一名爵士音乐家,她曾在密歇根州的奥克兰大学担任爵士乐队指挥。并曾任教于普渡大学,曾指导普渡爵士乐队日本及中国的巡回演出。

她的著作《Getting Started with Jazz》为乐队和爵士合奏作曲,以及音乐教育提供了深层次的研究。

Bachelor of Music in Education

Undergraduate admission is based on a successful audition in the student’s performing instrument or voice category and an in-person interview with the music education faculty. The interview will consist of an on-site essay, questions concerning your musical and extracurricular activities, and a general assessment of musical skills that pertain to teaching music.

1、Applicants for all music education graduate programs must provide an entrance essay of three to five pages with the application to the graduate program. The purpose of this essay is to assess the applicant’s ability to organize thoughts and to express them clearly in writing. Applicants are asked to describe previous background in music and music education with particular emphasis on teaching experience. Applicants are also asked to include a discussion of what they hope to accomplish during graduate study and long-term career goals. Students applying for the DME or PhD degree programs should discuss potential research interests.

2、Applicants for all music education graduate degrees must provide a ten-minute video recording which demonstrates proficiency in teaching and a short video or audio recording which demonstrates proficiency as a soloist or conductor; ( website, HTML, or DVD acceptable). In addition to the materials required on the Music Graduate Application, applicants for the MME, DME or PhD should submit GRE General Test Scores. Applicants for the MS degree are not required to take the GRE. Instead they must submit Casa scores (Core Academic Skills Assessment Test) or qualifying scores on one of the following: SAT (1100), ACT (24), GRE (301).

3、All applicants to all graduate degree programs must complete an in-person interview with the music education graduate coordinator. The interview will consist of questions regarding previous schooling, teaching, and musical experience along with research experience and interests. The interviews will be used to assess the applicant’s ability to articulate thoughts and goals clearly and to determine the applicant’s appropriateness for Associate Instructorships.
